A few things happened this week that were definitely out of the norm!
#1 So there is this kid in the YSA ward who's pretty awesome. HIs name is Derek Hindes but we just call him Muse because he's obsessed with them. He gave us like 5 mp3 cds with 3 days worth of music on it. So we're listening to a CD last night and all of a sudden there is this intro to a song that immideately caught my attention. As soon as the voice came in I recognized who the artist was. Edit Nothing!!! Haha i was soo stoked, I was freakin out! It was the rendition of "Called to Serve" off of the singles ward album! haha it was soo awesome!! Give Bobby and Bo a shout out and tell them they made my week out here!!
#2 This news sucks.
I got a call from President last night telling me that he got a call from the Brethren about skinny ties. They are officially banned for being "faddish"!!!!!! LAME. That's like all I have!!! I have 3 fat ties!! This sucks!! President was so cool about it thought, because we have to discuss it in Zone Leader Council and he didn't want me to feel like he was pickin on me in front of everyone. He said,"Honestly they haven't been a problem to me at all. You're one of the most powerful Elders I've seen no-matter what tie you wear. I know it's a nit-picky little thing, but when I get a call from the brethren I just have to follow their council and I wanted to let you know before we talk about it in Zone Leader Council so you didn't feel unconfortable or anything. If you don't have any bigger ties, you can come over to the mission home, I've got a full rack of em and you can pick out whatever and however many you want. Is that ok?" Just an example of the amazing charity of that man. He's one of my heros. So get ready for Elder Keyes with Java ties!
If I could have some fat ties in the next package that would be great, but please run them through my consultant/safetey supervisor/tie manager Chad Keyes first. But for real...Let Chad see them before you send them.
Kaylyn is getting baptized on saturday!!!! 7 o Clock!!! We are expecting over 60 people to be there! She's so excited even though she's going through a ton of trials right now. Her dad won't talk to her at all anymore. Her mom is feeding her anti material everyday and fighting with her. And her returned missionary boy-friend who is already less-active dumped her because she's getting baptized. All within the past week. But nevertheless she's staying strong! She bought us about 100 dollars worth of groceries to make her feel better! It was so nice of her. We've been having Salmon for lunch and chicken and all sorts of delicious stuff! Just becoming pro chefs. No biggie.
Hmm what else.
We're playing baseball for p-day today!! I'm so stoked!! It's going to be awesome! We've got 5 legit baseball players in the zone and we're stoked to play with each other today! One of them, Elder Anderson, actually has a scholarship, so that'll be fun!
I'm so glad to hear that everything in the family is giong well! We seriously have the best family in the world. I miss everyone so much, and because of that, I'm making this count. I pray for each of you everyday. I think about you everyday and I hope you guys know how much I love and appreciate you! Seriously the best.
I am excited to see/talk as well and yes we can totally skype again! It's going to be a lot of fun! I can't believe it will be my last call to you. That's so crazy. I actually was talking to Elder Davis(AP) on exchanges and he said that the plan is to send my group of missionaries home a week early since my departure date is for Christmas day. So it might be like the 18th or 17th that I actually get home. Just a little FYI.
AIght you guys! Please let me know if you want or need anything! I got those pictures sent off today so expect them this week! Treat all the moms in the fam nice for mothers day! Especially the best mom aka Lisa Keyes!
